The official Freeride World Tour ski gloves

Therm-ic and the Freeride World Tour have just signed a partnership agreement! To celebrate, we've developed a ‘pro model’: a freeride ski glove designed by and for the world's best riders.

The Therm-ic freeride ski gloves are the result of the encounter between our historic know-how in body thermoregulation and the talent of the FWT athletes. Our gloves have accompanied our mountaineers in their exploits, our adventurers in their expeditions and our skiers in their victories: from now on, they will also be present with the riders with large spatulas, on the most committed snow slopes of the planisphere.

Our Therm-ic Freeride Extra Warm FWT Edition gloves are little jewels of design and innovation. They guarantee warmth, waterproofing, precision and durability, to keep your hands warm and dry in even the most extreme conditions.

What are the best gloves for freeride skiing? Why does the Freeride World Tour recommend these Therm-ic gloves? What materials are used in their design? Find out all the answers in this article.

How did these gloves come about, and why this partnership with the FWT?

We've signed a partnership with the world's leading freeride ski circuit: the Freeride World Tour! At Therm-ic, this new partnership makes us proud and enthusiastic. Proud because the top-level approach runs in our veins. Performance is part of our DNA and supporting champions is our passion. Proud, but also enthusiastic, because this partnership pushes us to our limits. Working with the best international freeriders has enabled us to develop the best freeride ski glove: the Therm-ic Freeride Extra Warm FWT Edition gloves.

Axel Kowalczyk, Marketing Communications Manager for the Therm-ic brand, talks about the partnership behind the scenes and the intentions behind the initiative: ‘Freeriding is one of the most aesthetic, telegenic and extreme winter sports. It's one of the most beautiful to watch, one of the most spectacular. So we wanted to strengthen our brand image by getting closer to this world, its community and its values. Talk to younger skiers. Combining our longstanding expertise in designing high-performance products with the ‘cool factor’ of freeride skiing makes a lot of sense! Finally, this partnership with the Freeride World Tour reflects our desire to go international: Therm-ic is growing in new markets - Canada, Austria, Switzerland, the Pyrenees and other mountains - and the launch of these robust gloves for snowboarding and freeride skiing is designed to support this growth.

What are the best gloves for freeride skiing?

Why choose Therm-ic freeride gloves? Because our Therm-ic Freeride Extra Warm FWT Edition gloves are the best gloves for freeride skiing. What objective evidence is there to support this? The fact that these gloves have been designed for and with the best riders in the world.

To develop these cold-resistant gloves, we sat down with some of the world's best freeride skiers and asked them two questions: ‘What makes a good freeride glove’ and ‘What would your ideal freeride glove look like? Manon Loschi, the new nugget on the Freeride World Tour; Juliette Willmann, a benchmark in steep skiing; and Max Hitzig & Marcus Goguen, the outgoing FWT winner and runner-up, took part in the workshop.

What makes a good freeride glove?

The exchange between our athletes and our R&D team produced some answers that Marcus Goguen sums up as follows: ‘A good freeride ski glove is one that keeps my hands warm and dry, no matter how windy or cold the conditions, no matter how extreme. In freeride - whether for training, backcountry practice or competition - having a good ski glove is fundamental for safety first, pleasure second and performance third.

These are the key points we took away from our workshop. In fact, we've turned this list into specifications for the design of our Therm-ic Extra Warm FWT Edition gloves: warmth; waterproofing; breathability; durability; lightness; and design, for the ‘cool factor’!

Why does the Freeride World Tour recommend these gloves?

Marcus Goguen, 2nd on the latest Freeride World Tour, says: ‘As a rider, we're looking for gloves with very basic qualities, but which are very complex to ensure in a context as extreme as the one we're in.

Our Therm-ic Freeride Extra Warm FWT Edition gloves meet all the requirements of a good freeride glove:

  1. Warmth is provided by Primaloft Gold technology, the best on the market in terms of insulation. So your hands stay warm, even in extreme cold.
  2. The Sympatex membrane that covers the gloves meets a major challenge: providing impeccable waterproofing while retaining optimum breathability, so that moisture from the snow and perspiration don't get between your fingers.
  3. The goatskin leather composition combined with Kevlar gives these gloves rare durability and resistance. So when you're skiing freeride, freerando or on a steep slope, you can put your hands everywhere: on abrasive rocks on the way up, or on your edges doing tricks on the way down.
  4. Improved grip thanks to short cuffs. These give you maximum dexterity and grip when holding your poles and making precise movements.
  5. An eco-responsible design: these extra warm winter sports gloves are made from 60% recycled materials. We want to do our bit and look after the hands of freeride skiers and the planet as best we can.
  6. Our gloves are also available as Therm-ic Extra Warm FWT Edition mittens. This versatility makes them a must-have for all freeride disciplines, whether you're on skis or snowboard!

Which gloves are the warmest?

Can these gloves be used for winter sports other than skiing? The answer is yes! Because this glove is versatile: it meets the criteria of resistance, waterproofing, insulation and technicality found in all mountain sports. However, it is possible to get even more performance from gloves that are more specific to each discipline.

That's why our range of ski gloves is so extensive, with the right glove for every winter sport.
